Braided River Quilters are dedicated to the appreciation and enjoyment of quilting, to the friendship bonds forged through participation in and sharing of the art and craft of quiltmaking, and to the public education of the historical value of quilting in American life
OCTOBER SERVICE PROJECT
October's service project will be making IV covers and optionally, port pillows. If you have extra fabric, the IV covers use 2 pieces of 9x11" darker fabric - kids or playful fabric if you have it. The port covers use 2 pieces of 4x7" fabric (these don't have to match) and 3" of Velcro. We plan to have the fabric cut already for the IV covers and directions to hand out. If you want to make port covers, please bring some fabric, we will havesome fabric, Velcro and stuffing ready. Of course you will need to bring your machine, small scissors and thread to join in.
This deserving project will go to a local children's hospital. IV covers help keep attention away from the progress of the IV, so kids can concentrate on something else. The port covers go over seat belts and protect the delicate area around a port from unnecessary friction - really a necessary!
There will be a cutting station, so if you only want to sew but have some spare fabric or stuffing, go ahead and bring it. Thanks for your support.
If you would like to get a head start on the Service project for October and want more information, here are the links.
We thank you in advance for your service. We will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church at 4pm to begin sewing.
